    On the Hampshire County border some 2 miles west of Fordingbridge on the road to Damerham. Now redesignated the C 148. There are around 500 inhabitants living in the village in 230 properties.

The village is largely enclosed to the north and west by copse and woods. To the south of the parish is Alderholt Mill on Ashford water which is also the Hampshire/Dorset County boundery.
