There is a network of footpaths, giving access to the local country side.  Many go through or are bordered by woods which are full primroses and bluebells in spring and early summer.  The bridleway footpaths from Sandleheath or Alderholt Mill to Damerham church are well worth the effort early in the year when the churchyard is full of snowdrops.

In addition to the extensive areas of the New Forest to the East there is easy access to the network of paths along Ashford Water and the Avon Valley Way.

To the north of Sandleheath is the picturesque village of Rockbourne, which is home to the remains of the largest roman villa in the area and is accompanied by a modern museum.

Less than half a mile from the centre of village is Alderholt Mill which is still used to produce flour. Demonstrations and teas are available at weekends from Easter to September.
