Philip moved with his wife Jenny to Sandleheath in June 2002, having previously lived in St Albans Hertfordshire and the village of Donnington, near Chichester West Sussex.

His hobbies and interests include supporting the National Trust, walking his two Cocker Spaniels and refurbishing his home.  He is also interested in local history and is currently researching the history of his cottage.

Philip and Jenny have a grown up son and daughter who live away from home.

Phillip and his family are newcomers to Sandleheath and have settled into the local community with ease. He recently praised the friendliness of the local people and the strong sense of community spirit that can be found.

He strongly supports the vision that the Parish Council should be at the forefront of promoting the activities of the local community, including both social and business interests.  Phillip is particularly interested in local law and order issues and is committed to providing better facilities for young people.  However, as a past Chairman of a village playing field association he is well aware of the difficulties surrounding such ventures.

His interests are Gardening, anything Automotive, Music and collecting books and transport pictures.

His aspirations as a Parish Councillor are to preserve the rural atmosphere and sense of community in Sandleheath and to ensure that it continues to be an enjoyable and safe place for residents and visitors.

Cllr. Derek Dean:
"Pasondela"
Sandleheath. SP6 1PQ
01425 652859

Responsibilities:  Village Planning .

Has been a resident in Sandleheath since moving from Essex in 1999 as part of career and lifestyle change. Derek is IT director of Unisys, an American IT services company based in Bournemouth.

He owns three Welsh Springer Spaniels that he enjoys training to the gun and taking advantage of the numerous New Forest facilities. He travels the country showing the dogs and  works them in competition. His main hobbies are of course the dogs, shooting, walking and anything automotive. When pushed he will become an active gardener! He is a supporter of field sports and the consequent importance to the rural economy. He has in the past sailed and driven at competitive levels but now does so only for pleasure.

He appreciates the village life and the value of a community. As a relative newcomer to the area he also understands the need for balance between 'new blood' and the vital need to protect the values and traditions of the community by ensuring that villages such as ours do not become dormitory areas and that the residents have the opportunity to define the culture and lifestyle within which they live.
